Our cacao
From bean to bar.
From volcanic soil in the Solomon Islands to our hands in Auckland, every block has a story.
Single origin
It begins on
the islands.
Our cacao comes from one place. Rich volcanic soil, heavy tropical rainfall and a Pacific climate that suits the tree better than almost anywhere else.
It is grown by family growers across seven small village communities, who tend the trees and hand-select the pods when they are ready, not when a schedule says so.
- Origin
- Guadalcanal and Malaita, Solomon Islands
- Soil
- Volcanic. Spray free (no pesticides or herbicides).

The journey
Seven steps,
tree to bar.
Every stage is done by someone, somewhere, by hand. This is the whole route.
- 01
Grown
Cacao trees grown in the rich volcanic soils of the Solomon Islands, under tropical rain and Pacific sun.
- 02
Harvested
Ripe pods are selected and cut by hand, by the local farming families who tend the trees.
- 03
Fermented
The beans ferment naturally for seven days, where the depth and complexity of the flavour begins.
- 04
Sun dried
Another seven days laid out beneath the Pacific sun, turned by hand until they are ready to travel.
- 05
Collected
Goodone Foods collects the cacao, travelling to each village and crossing seven rivers along the way.
- 06
Roasted and stone-ground
The beans reach Auckland, where we roast them and slowly refine them in our boutique chocolate factory.
- 07
Moulded and finished
Moulded, wrapped and finished by hand, completing the journey from bean to bar.

The people
Cacao is grown
by people.
Goodone Foods works directly with the growers who supply us, and pays a premium above the market price for the beans.
That premium is the point. It is what makes tending cacao worth doing well, what keeps the knowledge in the villages, and what gives the next generation a reason to stay with the trees their families planted.
We would rather pay more and know exactly whose hands the pods passed through.

Ceremonial cacao
Cacao in its
purest form.
Ceremonial cacao means the whole bean stays whole in spirit. Fermented, dried, roasted and stone-ground, with the cacao butter left exactly where it belongs, in the bean.
This is Seven Sisters in its purest form. 100% ceremonial cacao, handcrafted from bean to block in small batches, with nothing added and nothing taken away. Rich, deeply chocolatey and made for a simple everyday ritual.
in our pure blocks
In the pure cacao: nothing removed, nothing added. No refined sugar, no fillers, no flavours.
Belmont, Auckland
We make it ourselves.
The beans arrive in Auckland and everything after that happens in our boutique chocolate factory in Belmont, alongside the award-winning team at Shirl + Moss.
We are not buying finished cacao and putting a label on it. We know which harvest it came from, and we are there for every step that turns it into a block.

Made with intention
Care is a step
in the process.
Renee and Sophia are energy healers, and the cacao is infused with Reiki as it is made, moulded, wrapped and packed.
You can take that as literally or as lightly as you like. What it means in practice is that nothing here is made in a hurry, and no order leaves without someone having paid attention to it.
Quality
What we check,
and why.
Independently tested
Our cacao undergoes independent laboratory testing for heavy metals, giving us confidence in its quality and purity.
Single origin
One origin, one harvest region. No blending of unknown lots.
Small batch
Made in quantities we can watch over, rather than volumes we cannot.
Known supply chain
We know the growers, the collector and every step in between.

From volcanic earth and Pacific sun in the Solomon Islands, to our hands in Auckland, every Seven Sisters product begins with exceptional cacao.
